Paediatric First Aid (1 day)
This one-day Paediatric Emergency First Aid course has been designed for those who have an interest in child and infant basic life support.
If you have a professional interest, i.e. you are a child-minder or school teacher etc, then this course fulfils partly the requirements of OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
In order to obtain the full qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units of accreditation which includes this one and ‘Managing paediatric illness and injury’.
A range of subjects are covered including:
• Responsibilities and reporting • Resuscitation
• Shock • Assessment of the situation
• Minor injuries • Epilepsy
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Anaphylaxis
• Wounds and bleeding
A minimum of six contact hours in the classroom, consisting of practical and theoretical activities, plus some pre-course activity could be required.
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor in respect of the student’s practical ability, along with a multiple choice question paper.
A Unit accreditation certificate lasting three years will be issued, subject to assessment.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all learners must be a minimum of 14 years of age.
A student cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace for children and infants until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.
The certificate will expire as dated on the certificate, irrespective of age.
If hosted at your premises, the cost of the course will be £450 for up to 12 persons.
If attending a course hosted by us, the cost will be £50 per person.
There are no additional costs for VAT on any of our courses.
